Learning, Performing, Exercising, Helping— Achieve Yourself, Impact Others, Transform the World!
I'm Li Junrui from Class 1101—a dreamer who has spent six incredible years at Maple Leaf School, passionate about science, fitness, and music. This year, I was honored to be selected into the Zhou Enlai Class and appointed as the psychological committee representative of my class. This journey has not only shaped me academically and personally but also become a process of self-discovery, breakthroughs, and sharing warmth with others.

When I first entered Maple Leaf High School, the fully English-based World School Program filled me with both excitement and nervousness. The immersive English environment, specialized academic content, and extensive use of original textbooks initially made it challenging—I could only grasp about 30% of the content in class, and the pressure was real. Yet, it was precisely this rigorous academic atmosphere that strengthened my determination to rise to the challenge. With the patient guidance of my teachers and the supportive culture of peer learning, I gradually adapted to the high-intensity English academic setting. Not only did my listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills improve significantly, but I also developed stronger interdisciplinary learning and critical thinking abilities.
Beyond academics, the diverse array of activities at Maple Leaf has provided a stage for my holistic growth. I used to be someone who feared the stage and felt overwhelmed by music theory—until I met my music teacher, Jessa. She never gave up on any student, spending extra hours after class tutoring me, offering continuous encouragement, and even rallying other teachers to support my progress. With the trust of my mentors and the support of my peers, I transformed from a nervous, trembling performer into someone who now confidently enjoys being on stage. This experience taught me a profound lesson: true growth comes from having the courage to confront what we’re not good at.
My classmates and I also established the "Iron Triangle" fitness team. Sweating it out together in the gym every day after class not only strengthened our bodies but also forged perseverance and resilience. This discipline, in turn, supported me in maintaining a positive mindset when facing academic challenges. Additionally, I actively participated in the science fair, where my team and I developed the "White Smoke Transparent Bubble" project, which received the Fun Award. Through these experiences, I came to understand the importance of teamwork and innovative practice.
Now, as a member of the Zhou Enlai Class, I am even more aware of what this role represents—it is not only a symbol of academic achievement and leadership but also a profound responsibility. I am determined to pay forward the support and warmth I have received: as the class psychological representative, I initiated the "Confidence Corner" project to listen to my peers’ concerns and spread positive energy; as a science enthusiast, I organized study groups to help classmates struggling with STEM subjects; and as someone who once struggled with stage fright, I now strive to support others in finding the courage to step into the spotlight.
Sitting in the Zhou Enlai classroom today, I see more clearly than ever that this identity is not just an honor—it is a responsibility. I will always remember those who reached out when I felt lost: my workout partners who helped me regain confidence, my music teacher whose encouragement pushed me to grow, and the seniors whose advice saved me from countless detours. It was these acts of kindness that supported me throughout my journey.
If there’s one thing my six years at Maple Leaf have taught me, it is this: the rigorous yet open academic environment of the World School Program, combined with the diverse opportunities beyond the classroom, has guided my transformation from an uncertain teenager into a confident and determined individual. The Zhou Enlai Class is not an endpoint for me—it is a new beginning. Here, I will continue to pursue excellence and strive to become a light that warms others and illuminates shared paths.
The road ahead is long and full of possibilities, but I am confident that the knowledge, skills, and growth I have gained here will empower me to step into a broader world and live up to the spirit of the Zhou Enlai Class: impacting others through action and changing the world with kindness.
